SYNTRA

SYNTRA

BACKGROUND

Syntra, a recognized training center in Flanders, Belgium, is known for its practice- oriented, career-focused programs. Syntra operates on 24 campuses and specializes in entrepreneurship education and professional development, bridging the gap between education and work.

The project is a collaboration with Syntra AB, Syntra BXL and Syntra MVL. Syntra offers a wide range of training programs, including full-time programs for young professionals, short-term refresher courses, dual programs that combine theory and practice, and training for starting or growing entrepreneurs. Companies that want to retrain their employees through customized training courses can also contact Syntra.

Originally, each Syntra centre worked with its own LMS, which led to fragmentation and limited opportunities for collaboration. At the request of the government, a centralisation of the learning offer was chosen, which resulted in the switch to Moodle Workplace: a scalable, flexible and centrally managed platform.

The Challenge

As Syntra grew, managing a multi-tenant LMS became more complex. Although Moodle Workplace provided the right structure, specialized support was needed to make the most of the platform.

A key challenge was managing multiple tenants, allowing each training center to operate independently while still utilizing shared resources. This required clear strategies around rights management, role assignment, and content sharing.

In addition, Syntra was looking for a partner who not only offered technical expertise, but was also familiar with the Flemish educational context. The choice fell on Eummena, a recognized Moodle Partner with in-depth knowledge of both the platform and the Belgian educational system.

Technical optimization remained essential: from simplifying enrollments and managing user roles to improving reporting and workflows. Trainers were supported in setting up structured courses, integrating interactive learning tools and monitoring learning goals via competency-based tracking.

The solution

Moodle Workplace struck a balance between autonomy and centralization. Each training center was given its own digital space, with access to shared resources via a central tenant. Role-based access control ensured an efficient user experience for trainers, learners and administrators.

Eummena supported Syntra in the configuration and optimization of the platform, and offers ongoing functional support to the internal team. This allows Syntra to focus on content and didactic improvements.

The collaboration is increasingly developing into a full-fledged partnership, with a focus on joint projects, structured feedback moments and knowledge sharing — already under construction, but even stronger as a vision for the future.

A concrete example of this is the development of a competency framework within the Dual department of Syntra AB. This framework is linked to course activities and offers real-time insight into the progress of students via dashboards, allowing training courses to be managed in an even more targeted manner.

Looking ahead

The collaboration between Syntra and Eummena shows how Moodle Workplace can transform vocational education. With a flexible multi-tenant LMS, Syntra sets new standards for digital and scalable learning in Belgium. The next step is a possible deeper integration with Microsoft Teams, for example for live lessons and collaboration within one familiar environment.

We are evolving towards a partnership in which joint innovation, strategic alignment and continuous improvement are central. Together we are building a powerful digital learning environment that grows with the needs of the field.

Eummena remains committed to further strengthening Syntra's learning environment, with a focus on competency- based learning, advanced data analysis and continuous innovation.
