Hello Moodlers and Moodlers-to-be!
Welcome to our second recap post from the 2025 Global Moot! If you haven’t read the first one, we would suggest taking a step back and reading that one first.
In our first post, we talked about what happened during the first two days of the Global Moot. The partners’ day, which was open only to Certified Moodle Partners, and the first day of the Global Moot that was open for anyone to attend.
Our 3rd Moodle Award!
#Day 3
Morning session
We kicked off Day 3, with a talk from Marie Achour, on shaping the future of Moodle. Although not new for us, since we had heard the news a couple of days ago in our partners’ meeting, it was interesting to look around the room and see how unaware Moodlers accepted the news that came with Marie’s presentation.
Equally interesting was the session from Setara Singh, about the Moodle Marketplace that is around the corner! Since you asked, Moodle Marketplace is a new platform designed to better support plugin developers, and improve how Moodle users discover, evaluate, and access plugins and integrations. In one word, Moodle Marketplace is the go-to place for all things related to enhancing your Moodle LMS with plugins and integrations.

Following a short coffee break, part of the team attended Martin Dougiamas’ workshop on Moodle and AI — an inspiring session that was nothing short of brilliant. The other part of our Eummena team that attended the event, found its way into the Sidlaw room, where we watched some very interesting presentations. If I had to pick a personal favorite, it would have to be the “Bringing European history to life with Moodle: A free, multilingual, multimedia approach to learner engagement”.

In this presentation, led by Nicola Claire White from the House of European History, we got to see all the amazing things that are supported using Moodle. Available in all 24 official EU languages, the platform ensures every learner, regardless of location or language, has access to the same high-quality experience. Using Moodle, historical content is delivered through a modern format that reflects how people engage with information today.
Evening session
A much needed lunch, propelled us towards the evening sessions, where we had the opportunity to prepare our own work, in the Fintry room. More specifically, our Managing Director, Jad Najjar, and our Chief Technologist, Tasos Koutoumanos, took the stage to talk about two Moodle projects of high impact.

The first case was from Saudi Arabia, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage, one of the world’s most complex logistical events. Eummena collaborated with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) to rapidly launch the “Hajj Healthcare Volunteering Essentials” course. Within weeks, thousands of healthcare professionals and volunteers were trained through a tailored digital learning platform. With over 2,000 completions and 95% learner satisfaction, this initiative demonstrated the power of digital learning to deliver at speed and scale in high-stakes environments.
The second case was from Europe, where Eummena is collaborating with KU Leuven’s Augment, GITO Overijse, and CVO Antwerp in Belgium to develop Moodle-integrated tools powered by analytics and AI. These include Instructor Dashboards for learner tracking, Program Council Dashboards for pathway planning, and AI Assistants that plan and align content with competencies. These tools support formal education, vocational training, and workplace learning alike.
But enough about us 😊
The rest of the evening session was also filled with amazing presentations that captivated the attention of the audience that stayed well into the last minutes of the last session of the day. As for us, we stayed in the Fintry room and had the chance to enjoy the session “Enhancing workplace learning through social and experiential learning”, where Kristine Hovden discussed the 70-20-10 model and explored how its principles can be applied using Moodle Workplace. Kristine discussed how their team adapted Moodle Workplace to create an optimal training environment that abides by the 70-20-10 model.
The day ended quite quite later than the end of the Moot, as this was the day of the well-known Moodle Moot Global Afterparty! This year’s party was themed “Once Upon Tomorrow” and we did bring our own interpretation of that. We won’t share any custome photos here, but you can find some if you search with #MootGlobal25 on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X or Bluesky.

Day 4
Morning session
Our last day for the Global Moot, started with an inspiring keynote from Dr. Naeema Pasha, who talked about how we can unlock our potential by bridging emotional and artificial intelligence. A talk that challenged a lot of things that we take for granted in our workplace, and hinted on how we can improve our day-to-day processes, to be able to cope with modern challenges.
After a short coffee break, we stayed in the same room, to watch the presentation by Emilio Lozano of Moodle who showcased the latest developments on Moodle Workplace as well as the future plans. Being quite involved with the product ourselves, this was a very interesting session as you can imagine, where we had the chance to hear about many many new things that are coming for Moodle Workplace.
Juan Leyva followed Emilio for the next session, talking about all the great work that the Moodle mobile app team has been doing. Juan reflected on the achievements of the team and emphasized on the roadmap of the app, engaging into a lively discussion with the audience who had a lot of questions about the app itself.
For the last session of our Moot (we had to travel, so the evening session was skipped), we watched Nadia Perujo from Moodle HQ, talk about engaging our adult brains. It was one of the most interesting and dense sessions of all our days in Edinburgh with lots of information that gave us food for though. And with some magic that’s always welcome in a presentation - or in general.
Evening session
As we pointed out, although the Global Moot offered lots of great sessions we would have loved to watch, such as the one related to the future of the Moodle Quiz and Question Bank, or the one from Kialo titled “Beyond the forum: Reimagining online discussions with digital argument mapping”, we had to pack our bags. 🧳
And to be honest, we also had to take a last “sip” from Edinburgh before heading out, so we enjoyed a short stroll around the castle before taking the bus to the airport.

That’s all for the Global Moodle Moot 2025! See you need year, in Istanbul!
